The story behind this turtle
Until recently this mysterious species was officially extinct in the wild. For the first time in history it was discovered in the wild by Turtle Island in 1998. Before that it was only known from an artificial temple pond in Bangladesh (Chittagong). The only individuals outside their distribution range are found at Turtle Island. As of now, our females are still too small for reproduction. This species is extremely adaptive and capable of learning. In temple ponds they even let visitors feed them from their hands. They are quiet and have special charisma, that is why they are the perfect turtle species for sacred temples.
