The story behind this turtle
The evolutionarily oldest turtle species is a well camouflaged ambush hunter with a preference for fish. At 110kg “Greg” is by far our largest turtle – and he knows it. This species originally lives in the Mississippi river system and its tributaries. Sadly, the Alligator Snapping Turtle is viewed as a delicacy in some cultures, which decreased the turtle population up to 95%. The inside of the turtle's mouth is camouflaged, and it possesses a worm-shaped appendage on the tip of its tongue used to lure fish.
